Fabulous Darling

Last Thursday we spent watching the inauguration of George W. Bush! We made cake and colored pictures of the United States.

Here is a snapshot of Harley from this week. In the morning he likes to come upstairs and let us know he wants breakfast. He is doing considerably better this month. It hasn't even been a month since we got him outside the ceiling.

Geneva still loves makeup, she applied some to me, and we almost look like twins now! Geneva is doing an excellent job using the bathroom. I can kiss pull-ups goodbye! The snow we received last weekend will surely melt some today with the temperatures reaching the 40's. The boys made some awesome snow forts outside that will suffer though. We were so shocked that Michael Moore didn't receive a nomination for best actor in the category of Acting Like he Cares for the Little People.

Men in tights

The girls and I made cookies yesterday, they were sporting their new aprons. Their names are embroidered on them. I have started potty training Geneva this week and so far so good. In the beginning of the week we would clap and cheer if she did something for us in the toilet, but she doesn't seem to like it when we cheer. She says, "NO NO CLAP!" She seems sad about the whole process, so we don't say anything now. She is going about it very business like. She is really enjoying books lately which I am so pleased about. Sometimes Winnie the Pooh can really be a life saver when you are trying to homeschool and keep her occupied. The big bed she was supposed to move into this week has turned out to be mom and dad's bed, not really what we had in mind when we got rid of her crib. I know this will pass too.

We finally got a call from the doctor about Ethan's $5,000 blood test. He has a gene abnormality in the region they were looking, that being said, the results are inconclusive. It is a relatively new blood test. The blood test only looks at specific genes, his blood results are very common. I am not sure why we bothered. So we are moving on and praying for wisdom on a couple matters. The doctor wanted to test Rex for it also but we don't think this will help Ethan in the long run. We might look for a doctor who has more experience in Ethan's problem.

Why is America obsessed with men in tights playing with balls: baseballs, basketballs, footballs etc... They get paid millions for playing a game that people watch. I am not begrudging their pay, I would like to get paid a lot for the skills I think are important in life too. Why is being good at throwing a ball this way or that way or catching a ball this way or that way so mesmerizing and worth so much to people. It has been in the news so much lately about this one on drugs and totally whacked out behavior from the players in these sports, you would think maybe this would open up people's eyes to the silliness of it all. Ok, I realize it will not change anything, maybe the next generation of American children will not be trained up to be caught up into it.

Good Morning

For I know that my Redeemer lives,
And He shall stand at last on the earth;
And after my skin is destroyed, this I know,
That in my flesh I shall see God,
Whom I shall see for myself,
And my eyes shall behold, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!
If you should say, 'How shall we persecute him?'--
Since the root of the matter is found in me,
Be afraid of the sword for yourselves;
For wrath brings the punishment of the sword,
That you may know there is a judgment."

Traditions

Well it has been some time since I have updated the blog. I don't have the time to report on everything:) The days leading up to Christmas were spent baking cookies and preparing for Christmas. I celebrated my birthday on the Saturday before my birthday. Rex took me out for breakfast, we have a tradition that Dad takes out the birthday kid on their birthday..Yeah it was my turn!!! We had breakfast with a young couple traveling through the cities. It is so refreshing to fellowship with people who love the Lord. We had our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. Fish with wild rice soup I also made pierogies. I started this tradition 10 years ago while we stayed a month with Rex's parents before we moved to Florida. Jeanne had terrible headaches the whole month and spent most of her time in bed, so I did almost all the cooking, I wanted something special for Christmas eve dinner and that's the menu I came up with and since then nobody wants it to change. I think most nationalities have seafood for Christmas eve so it is really nothing out of the ordinary.

Danielle turned 8 on the 27th. My mom took Danielle to the mall to get her ears pierced. She did super and looks so gorgeous with the new studs. We went to the movie The Incredibles, she had a Hello Kitty cake and went out for Chinese food. She is taller than Lilly now. Speaking of height Rexford is 6 foot now.

We spent New Years Eve with the Hamze's. This tradition started 4 or 5 years ago I think, the first New Years Eve get together was extremely memorable!!! We take turns every year at who's house we go to. We read through Jonathan Edward's resolutions every time also. Sammy and Geneva danced together, it was so cute. Philippe has been keeping a deep dark secret from his wife, it was finally revealed New Years eve. Well I had to snap a picture of it, he was pretty good at it.

Captured!!! Yes finally, I certainly hope so. We cut a hole in the ceiling of our family room to get Harley out. He had been in there since Wednesday, and stopped coming down to eat and use the litter box. We have him in a smaller room now, where he can't get into the ceiling and the kids have been coming in to pet and play with him. Geneva scares him a bit but he seems to be basking in all the attention he is receiving.
