Power update

We got our power on Monday night around 8 p.m. Our poor neighbors across the street didn’t get their power on till Tuesday though. We had 2 trees removed this week also. The top of one of them came down during the storm. God was pruning our yard. The trees had been trimmed to look like totem poles.

Electrical Energy and more

Hey everyone! Last Wednesday there was a huge thunderstorm that went through our city. We have been without power since then. On Thursday we bought a generator, so our experience hasn’t been too bad going without power. I think we will get our electricity back tonight or tomorrow.

We had a stray kitty cat in our backyard last week. We took the kitty to the humane society and found out it was chipped. The kitty belonged to a gentleman who lives just a block away. He happens to be a wheelchair and was grateful we found his cat. The humane society lady asked me if we would bring the cat to his house for him and we did. There is a happy ending

The Pastor who shared the gospel (in 1991) with me is moving back down south. He resigned from his position as the pastor of a church my mother still attends. It is sad, I didn’t expect to feel so sad about this but I will miss them. Pastor R changed through the years but he wasn’t ever shy about Jesus Christ. His theology certainly differed from mine but he was always bold sharing the gospel with everyone. His wife taught me to use a sewing machine, gave me the best recipe for barbeque pork chops ever. She discipled me after I was converted. We memorized scripture together and she taught me to smile no matter what happens. I thought at one time it was a bad idea to smile no matter what but some how now I see the wisdom in it. She told me never leave the house without makeup on and make sure you are always wearing earrings. I need to get back on track with those two rules I remember they were the first couple I ever invited over for dinner. I thought I had to make the grandest meal I could make; I made a huge turkey dinner. It turned out well but I think my idea of a big grand meal wouldn’t include a turkey now I had to have been 20 or 21 years old at the time.

Some of us are testing for our next belt very soon. I have been feeling under the weather recently so I truly hope I will have some energy by then. Last night I crashed at 9:00, I knew I was sick when I went to sleep so early. I have been working almost non-stop lately and fighting off a cold. I stayed home from church Sunday morning; I did listen to a sermon on sermon audio.com. It was about the death of Christians and how we will be without sin in heaven, how we should look forward to heaven. It was very encouraging!

We have had 2 classes in our homeschool co-op so far this year, 4 more to go. I am teaching a chess class with help from Rexford. We are making chess boards out of wood and painting them and the chess pieces out of nuts and bolts, we will play chess the last couple of classes. Geneva is in a preschool class and is learning about nature. Danielle is in a MN unit study and has gym and art class. Lilly is taking a candy making class and a jewelry class. Isaac is taking gym and chess class Ethan is taking a grilling out class and a wood art class. Rex is also taking the grilling out class and helps with the chess class.

Things to do in NE when your on vacation

The kids did very well at the TKD tournament in Omaha. Rexford took first in sparring. Isaac took first in sparring and third in forms. Lilly took first in sparring and third in forms. I was the only person who entered in my division, but I did get to spar two exhibition matches.

Put me in the zoo

I haven’t had much time to blog. We have had family over recently and we started school last week. We went to Omaha, NE for a TKD tournament last weekend and while there we went to the zoo. We really enjoyed ourselves, the kids loved it.
